Seeing as one half of Two Gold Bricks is sunning it up in Spain this week (lucky fuck), we thought it’d be a good idea to do a joint post with Joe Morris (Let Yourself Go) in his absence. It’s a bit like your standard music post, BUT LOADS BETTER.
I can’t stop listening to submerse at the moment, whether it’s in the morning when I’ve just got up or when I’m about to go to sleep. These two tracks are my favourite on his soundcloud, with Seven Times standing out, I think the vocals from Leona Lewis are freaking dope.
When I was in San Fran all i listened to was Kastle’s March Promo mix, recently I’ve felt I’ve needed some more of Kastle’s delight, and I’ve been graced with Kastle’s Essential Mix. Been listening to this a lot recently, this mix is perfect for a 10 mile cycle home drunk; it has chilled out tracks and beats that make you want to go super fast.
Shlohmo’s latest EP landed in my iTunes late last month, and I pretty much ignored it for a while, not really giving it a listen. Stumbled back across it the other day on shuffle, and it’s so so so good. Some of the tracks, namely the Teeth remix, are a bit much; but the rest of the album is fucking dope. Naps is by far my favourite, with it’s slow groove, interrupted by a dark beat towards the end of the track. Brilliant.
The spotlight is on Digbeth, Birmingham this saturday as the biggest nights including Bigger than barry, Face, WAX:ON, Atomic Jam and Gutter Skank are about to cause some carnage at the Summer Street Festival. Having attended the electric carnival a few months back, I can't even begin to explain how mad things get. You'd be a fool to miss out.

3 weeks no until the release of Mount Kimbie’s debut album, and after having a sneaky little listen to it, we’re hotly anticipating its full release on July 19th. On first listen, the album is almost unidentifiable;
familiarity only sustained through Mount Kimbie's trademark percussive blips, however their typically downtempo melodies have been replaced by a pacier, more unorthodox flow.
Down to our last exams now and the summer holiday seems only just around the corner. Sunshine, beaches, bbq's, fruity cocktails, ice cold beers, English sunburns, skimpy bikini's, horny bitches, mega festivals and all day/all night partying. Damn, lets start it of with some bangers from VHYCE and Mowgli to get you more hype George Osborne taking away benefits!
Sweat it out! is the Australian label who seem to have dominated all Oz's talent with releases from some of the heaviest names including Edu K, Act Yo Age, Oh Snap!, Yolanda Be Cool and DCUP. Their latest release is 'VOIVODINE (HA HA HO HEY)' by VHYCE. Say no more, its a tech house family feast with tropical twinges and had us screaming summer vibes. Two tracks; 'Voivodine (Ha Ha Ho Hey)' & 'Basement Horns' with remixes from Yolanda Be Cool, Femme En Fourrure and Rainbows of Death. Romanian chopped vocals, chime synths and even some Major Lazer style snare samples; what's not to enjoy? Femme En Fourrure's version is a minimalistic track which uses the same vocals but over a much deeper groove.
Mowgli really has been baffling his fans, including us. He seems to change his style frequently, but with his latest single 'We think it's cool' we say fair play. Bar the phasers and the synths its almost a basic original sophisticated house track with its jazz elements including that dope as fuck tena saxophone. Don't be a fool and miss out on this Deadfish release!
To finish, RTK's latest ep 'Cut to the top'. This will take a hell of a lot to challenge the previous 'Calypso' ep which seemed to have excited the whole of the house music scene back a few months ago. The two tracks 'Cut to the top' & 'Stomper' released on made to play are on sale over at Beatport.
Goldbrickin' as usual, we've got something slightly fancy from Para One. 'Kiwi/Toadstool' is his latest addition to his successful chain of jackin' electronic house whatever the fuck you want to call it. With two new tunes: 'Kiwi' and 'Toadstool', you can expect to be making some abnormal movements at your local disco. Remixed by some of the our personal favourites; Noob, Jesse Rose and Tony Sengshore, you really should get to know.
Bass guitar riffs, clicks and euphoric synths with a echoed whistle; it looks like Para One has had some serious fun in the studio creating this masterpiece.
Noob has gotten his grubby little fingers on it, pulled it apart and turned it into something naughty. If you're a fan of Noob already, you will understand how he's left his trademark midget sound on this banger.

Always appreciate those times where you end up sitting on your backside doing sweet fuck'all; skipping through music channels to find something worth listening to. Avoiding Cliff Richard and Dolly Parton on Magic I came across Born Ruffians latest video of 'What to say', not just an amazing track, but also epic video directed by Jared Raab. Born Ruffians released their fourth album 'Say It' on Warp Records on 31st of May last month. A real fresh sound from a band I'd totally forgotten about since their past classic 'Hummingbird'.
Couldn't argue that Warp haven't released some unheard of talent and The Hundred in the Hands are a prime psychedelic example with their ep 'This Desert' including their latest release of 'Tom Tom'. With her angelic' sounding voice over some intense acidic toms there is more than enough to pull you into a state of tranquility.
